Garage Garage - Water Street, Gastown
Space for Lease

The Garage redevelopment adds new, modern live-work space to the Gastown district. At the same time it saves and rehabilitates two important, turn-of-the-century heritage buildings that wrap around the historic Gaoler's Mews courtyard off Water Street. The Garage is the third phase of Salient's 3-phase mixed-use redevelopment in Gastown. It is the melding together of a crisp modern addition spread across both the ca.1930 Nagle Brothers garage, and the ca.1890 "Cordage" Building, former home of rope manufacturer Canada Cordage Co.

The renovation of the Garage will be complete late in 2009.

Retail and office space in the Nagle Brother's Garage building is defined by a 1930 historic board-formed concrete structure, storefront glass, and 13-foot ceilings. The 1889 Cordage Building has high-ceiling brick and timber retail and office space.

Retail in The Garage project includes approximately 10,000 square feet of high-ceiling ground level space, facing either historic "Blood Alley Square", Water Street, or the Gaoler's Mews Courtyard. Spaces vary from 800 square feet to 2500 square feet. Office space in the Garage totals approximately 10,000 square feet of brick, timber, or concrete space ranging from 1500 square feet to 10,000 square feet of contiguous space.

It connects with the ca.1886 "Alhambra" Building through the Gaoler's Mews Courtyard, which ultimately leads to the Carrall Street Greenway. The courtyard will be a vibrant space with indoor/outdoor restaurant and café seating, retail, and elevator access to the office and live-work spaces above.
